| …but we think it’s important to explain to you the highly sustainable methods we use to produce the unique quality you’ve come to expect from our fabrics!
Leaving our fabrics as untreated as possible, for example, makes them exceptionally sturdy. We usually steer clear of easy-care and wrinkle-resistant treatments, which allows our cotton to maintain its natural stability. Our treated fabrics, meanwhile, are coated with silicon and then impregnated with Teflon, making them especially water-resistant and suitable for sewing-machine processing. As a general rule, we do not use synthetic resins.
Virtually all of our fabrics meet the Öko-Tex100 standard.
However, our fabrics are proven to be more than just free of harmful substances. They also exhibit good “residual shrinkage values” – in other words, they shrink very little – and the threads of our textiles are coloured with reactive dye. In manufacturing our printed fabrics, we use a reactive printing process (vat / discharge printing), which permeates the fibers instead of merely applying dye to the surface, as in pigment printing. This also ensures a high level of rub fastness while leaving the fabric soft and much more durable. Similar to screen printing, our process separates print patterns into their individual colours, which makes it possible to apply colour gradients. |
